The short version. Every eSIM you buy from Esimy earns you 5% back as Loyalty Points (1,000 points = €1). Points sit in your Esimy Wallet alongside any EUR you top up, refer-a-friend bonuses, refund credits and goodwill credits. You spend the unified balance on any future Esimy plan — partly or in full — and you keep earning 5% on whatever you spend. Nothing in your Wallet ever expires. It’s the most-rewarding eSIM cashback program we know of, and we’ve been running it since the day Esimy launched.
If you travel a few times a year, the maths add up surprisingly quickly. €100 a year on Esimy plans = €5 back in Loyalty Points = a free city-break eSIM the next time you fly. €500 a year = a fully covered week-long trip. And because spending Wallet credit still earns 5% on the new purchase, the balance compounds for as long as you keep travelling.
This guide walks through exactly how the program works, what’s in your Wallet, the rules you should know, and how Esimy’s cashback compares to Airalo, Holafly, Saily and Roami.
Esimy Wallet is the account balance you spend at checkout. It lives inside every Esimy account — created automatically the first time you buy a plan, with nothing to opt into. You can see your balance update in real time inside the Esimy mobile app (Android · iOS) and on your web dashboard.
Five things flow into your Esimy Wallet:
Whatever the source, it all spends the same way at checkout. See the full Esimy Wallet page →
This is the part most travellers want to understand first, so let’s get specific.
The original program name when Esimy launched was the Esimy Loyalty Program (some customers also called it “Esimy Loyalty Points”). The mechanic is unchanged; we now wrap it inside the broader Esimy Wallet name because it lives next to your top-ups, referrals and any refund credits in a single balance.
Functionally, almost none — and that’s by design. Both are part of your Esimy Wallet and both spend the same way at checkout.
The only real difference is where the value came from:
| Source of value | Lands in your Wallet as |
|---|---|
| 5% cashback on a plan you bought | Loyalty Points (1,000 points = €1) |
| Refer-a-friend bonus (you or your friend) | 3,000 Loyalty Points (= €3) |
| EUR you topped up yourself | EUR balance |
| Refund credit you chose, or that we issued | EUR balance |
| Goodwill credit from support | EUR balance |
At checkout you don’t have to choose between them — the system uses whatever value you have, applying it against the order in the way that’s simplest for you. Whether the source was points or EUR, 1,000 points = €1 across every transaction.
Esimy’s referral program lives inside the mobile app. The mechanics are simple and symmetric — both people get the same reward.
There’s no cap on how many friends you can refer. If you’ve ever recommended an eSIM to a colleague, partner or fellow traveller, this is the way to make it pay back into your next trip.
Most eSIM providers don’t offer a cashback program at all. Of those that do, the structures differ — some use credits that expire, some run point systems with breakage built in, some only give rewards above a spend threshold. Here’s how the major brands stack up against the Esimy Loyalty Program.
| Provider | Cashback / loyalty mechanic | Expires? | Stacks with refunds & top-ups in one balance? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Esimy | 5% in Loyalty Points on every plan, no thresholds + €3 referral both sides | Never | Yes — one Esimy Wallet for points, EUR top-ups, refund credit, goodwill |
| Airalo | Airmoney — points earned per purchase, redeemable as discount credit | Yes (program-defined) | No unified Wallet for top-ups + refunds |
| Holafly | No standing cashback program; promo codes & affiliate discounts only | N/A | No |
| Saily | Promo discounts via NordVPN ecosystem; no published cashback | N/A | No |
| Roami | Referral credit; no transparent standing cashback | Varies | No |
Comparison reflects publicly-stated provider programs as of April 2026. Cashback structures evolve — check each brand’s site for current terms before making a purchase decision.
The Esimy difference comes down to three things:
Two things to know:
If you paid for the original order with Wallet credit, that credit returns to your Wallet automatically when the refund is approved.
The full refund mechanics are documented at esimy.net/refund-policy/, including the 30-day pre-activation cancellation guarantee — full refund returned to your original payment method any time before you scan the QR code.
Most cashback programs sound smaller than they actually feel after a year. Here’s what your Esimy Wallet does for three real-life travel patterns:
| Traveller | Annual Esimy spend | Loyalty Points earned | In your Wallet at year-end |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekend tripper — 4 city breaks/year, €5 plans | €20 | 1,000 | €1 — covers half of your next weekend bundle |
| Twice-yearly traveller — 2 longer trips, €25 plans | €50 | 2,500 | €2.50 — a free 1 GB top-up |
| Frequent traveller — monthly trips averaging €15 | €180 | 9,000 | €9 — a free Schengen plan |
| Digital nomad — Esimy on every hop, €40/month average | €480 | 24,000 | €24 — a fully covered week-long Asia plan |
Add referrals (€3 per qualifying friend, both sides) and the numbers grow faster. Recommend Esimy to two travelling friends a year and you’ve added another €6 to whatever your cashback delivered.
For the canonical, always-current version of the rules see the Esimy Wallet page.
The Esimy Loyalty Program is the 5% cashback layer inside Esimy Wallet — the original feature Esimy launched with. You earn 5% of every eSIM purchase as Loyalty Points (1,000 points = €1), credited to your Wallet the moment payment is confirmed.
If you’re optimising for cashback specifically, Esimy’s flat 5% on every plan with no tiers, no thresholds and no expiry is among the most generous standing programs in the eSIM market. Most major competitors either run promo-code campaigns instead of standing cashback, or use point systems with expiry.
Automatically — every Esimy eSIM you buy earns 5% of the purchase price back as Loyalty Points (1,000 points = €1). Points are added to your Wallet the moment payment is confirmed. There’s nothing to opt into and no codes to enter.
Exactly €1. The conversion is fixed: 1,000 Loyalty Points = €1 across every transaction.
Yes. If your balance covers the price, pay 100% from your Wallet. If it covers only part, the rest is charged to your card or other payment method at checkout.
No. Loyalty Points and EUR balance in your Esimy Wallet never expire.
No — Wallet balance and Loyalty Points are non-transferable and tied to the account that earned them.
No. Esimy Wallet is store credit only and can be used exclusively on Esimy purchases.
Inside the Esimy mobile app, share your referral link. Once you’ve spent at least €20 in total across your orders and your friend places an order of at least €5, both Wallets receive €3 (credited as 3,000 Loyalty Points each).
Esimy Wallet is the unified balance you spend at checkout. Loyalty Points are one of the things in it — specifically, the value you earn from the 5% cashback program and from referrals. Other things in the same Wallet include EUR top-ups, refund credits and goodwill credits. They all spend the same way.
Yes. Loyalty Points are calculated on the full plan price regardless of how you paid. That’s why a regular Esimy customer’s Wallet compounds over time.
If the refund is returned to your original payment method (the card or account you paid with), the Loyalty Points earned on that order are reversed. If the refund is paid into your Wallet (as a Wallet credit refund), it sits in your balance alongside any other value and is usable on any future Esimy plan. If the original order was paid with Wallet credit, that credit returns to your Wallet automatically.
