Before you buy your Saint Kitts and Nevis eSIM
Is my phone compatible?
Quick check: dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked.
How much data do I need?
A rough estimate based on typical use. Video and hotspot use the most data.
One eSIM St Kitts and Nevis plan, two islands and the Narrows in between
Buy one eSIM St Kitts plan and Nevis comes with it, because the two islands form a single country and FLOW’s 4G/LTE network runs on both.
Cruise passengers usually get a single day here, and it’s a busy one. The signal holds from the Port Zante pier through Basseterre and the Circus, then along the island road past Romney Manor to Brimstone Hill Fortress. Frigate Bay, South Friars Bay and the beach bars at Cockleshell Bay, out on the South East Peninsula, are covered too.
On Nevis, Charlestown and Pinney’s Beach are fine. The weak spots are up high. Cloud forest on Nevis Peak and Mount Liamuiga can leave you with one bar or nothing, so download the trail before you start. The plan covers St Kitts and Nevis only, and when your ship sails on it stops working. If Bridgetown is a later stop, our Barbados eSIM handles that leg.
Small plans make sense here. A cruise day or a long weekend rarely gets through more than 1 or 3 GB, and Caribbean data isn’t priced like European data. There’s no local number with this data-only eSIM, and ordinary calls and SMS won’t work. WhatsApp covers the gap while your home SIM keeps receiving texts.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Travel and Connectivity Guide
Two islands, one plan, and the mountain trails where signal fades
Coverage areas
St Kitts is shaped a bit like a tadpole: a round volcanic body with a long tail, the South East Peninsula, pointing at Nevis. Nearly all the towns, hotels and sights sit on the coast road that rings the main part of the island, and FLOW follows it round through Basseterre, Old Road, Sandy Point and Dieppe Bay. The peninsula road out to South Friars Bay, Cockleshell Bay and Majors Bay has signal as well. Inland, the slopes climb steeply into rainforest, and you’ll lose bars quickly once you leave the road on foot. Nevis works the same way. Charlestown, Pinney’s Beach and Oualie Beach are fine; the upper mountain isn’t.
eSIM St Kitts on Nevis and the ferries
Connects to FLOW, run by Cable & Wireless, on fast 4G/LTE across both islands, and to no other network. Because Nevis is part of the same country, nothing changes when you take the passenger ferry from Basseterre to Charlestown, the Sea Bridge car ferry from the South East Peninsula, or a water taxi across the Narrows. Signal is at its weakest in the cloud forest on the upper slopes of Mount Liamuiga and Nevis Peak. Esimy doesn’t cap speed, so the limit is set by the signal and your handset.
Data usage tips
• 1–3 GB: one cruise call at Port Zante or a long weekend. Per gigabyte, data here costs more than at home in Europe, so start small
• 5–10 GB: a week split between Frigate Bay and Nevis, with a video call home most evenings
• 20 GB: a month or longer, or working from a villa with a laptop on hotspot
Tourist highlights
Brimstone Hill Fortress, the UNESCO-listed hilltop citadel often called the Gibraltar of the West Indies, is the island’s best-known sight. The St Kitts Scenic Railway spends three hours on a narrow-gauge line built to haul sugar cane, and the upper deck is open-air. Romney Manor has a batik workshop in its gardens. Mount Liamuiga’s crater hike needs a free day and a guide. Watch for green vervet monkeys along the South East Peninsula road before ending up in the bars on the Frigate Bay strip. Nevis is quieter. Charlestown has the Alexander Hamilton birthplace, Pinney’s Beach has the long sand, and the hot springs sit beside the old Bath Hotel.
Apps that help
Google Maps copes with the single main road around St Kitts and the narrower lanes on Nevis; save both islands offline before a hike. Cars drive on the left. Private minibuses run out of Basseterre along the island road and cost very little, though they get scarce at night. Taxis have no meters, so settle the fare first. Ferry times between the islands shift with the season and the weather, so check the day’s schedule at the terminal or with the operator, and many operators answer on WhatsApp. The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, and US dollars are accepted almost everywhere tourists go.
Roaming tips
Check your home tariff before you fly. On many UK and EU plans the Caribbean is one of the dearer roaming zones, and a single day of maps can run up a noticeable bill. Once Esimy is installed, make the eSIM your data line and allow it to roam. Your home SIM’s Data Roaming should stay off. Cruise passengers should leave it off for the whole voyage: between islands, phones can latch onto the ship’s own network, which is billed as premium roaming.

eSIM FAQs
Common questions about using eSIM in Saint Kitts and Nevis
Should I buy a SIM card in Basseterre instead?
Only for a long stay. A local St Kitts SIM card means a visit to a phone shop in Basseterre, a likely ID check and a physical SIM swap, all of which eat into a cruise day. If you’re living on the islands for months, or you need a number people here can call cheaply, a local SIM is the better long-term choice.
Does my phone support it?
Recent iPhones work, and so do most newer Galaxy and Pixel models, provided it’s unlocked and supports eSIM. The full list of supported devices is on our site.
Can I use the St Kitts eSIM as a hotspot?
Tethering is allowed, so a second phone or a tablet can share your data on a tour.
How much data should I buy, and can I top up?
- Cruise day: 1 GB
- Long weekend, or a week of maps and messages: 3 GB
- A week with daily video calls: 5 GB
- Two weeks or more, or remote work: 10 or 20 GB
There’s no unlimited plan; 20 GB is the top size. Top-ups are done in the app or your dashboard and go onto the same eSIM.
How do I install it?
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay all work at checkout, and we don’t ask for ID. The QR code is emailed as soon as you’ve paid. Scan it on Wi-Fi under Add eSIM in your phone’s settings, then on arrival enable Data Roaming for that line and use it for mobile data. There are no APN settings to enter.
How good is coverage away from Basseterre?
Good along the coast road that loops the island, including Old Road, Sandy Point and Brimstone Hill, and out along the South East Peninsula. It drops once you climb into the rainforest on the Mount Liamuiga trail, and the same goes for Nevis Peak. Download offline maps before any hike and let your guide or host know you may be out of reach for a few hours.
Does it work at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport and the cruise pier?
Both sit on the edge of Basseterre and both get a FLOW signal. With the eSIM already installed, turn on Data Roaming for it when you land or step onto the Port Zante pier, and it connects within a minute or two.
Which network does the eSIM use?
FLOW, Cable & Wireless’s network on both islands, over 4G/LTE. It doesn’t switch to another operator.
Will I get a St Kitts phone number?
This plan doesn’t come with one. It’s a data-only eSIM, so there’s no local number and no standard calls or SMS. Ring people on WhatsApp or FaceTime, and keep your home SIM switched on so texts from the cruise line or airline still reach you.
I’m only in port for a day. Is an eSIM St Kitts plan worth it?
Often, if your home plan charges a daily Caribbean roaming fee. A 1 GB plan comfortably covers a taxi tour, maps and a few photos sent home from Brimstone Hill. It stops working once the ship leaves, so the next island needs separate cover; our Barbados eSIM is one option if Bridgetown is on the route.
Does the eSIM St Kitts plan also work on Nevis?
Nevis is part of the same country, so the same eSIM keeps working in Charlestown, along Pinney’s Beach and out at Oualie Beach, with nothing to switch. Only the upper slopes of Nevis Peak are patchy.
What is the best eSIM for Saint Kitts and Nevis?
One that covers both islands without a second purchase, sized for a short stay. Ours connects to FLOW on 4G/LTE across St Kitts and Nevis, with plans from 1 GB (7 days) up to 20 GB (30 days) and validity that starts at your first connection. It’s data only, so there’s no local number.
