Before you buy your Anguilla eSIM
Is my phone compatible?
Quick check: dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked.
How much data do I need?
A rough estimate based on typical use. Video and hotspot use the most data.
eSIM Anguilla starts at Blowing Point, not in St Martin
Most people reach Anguilla by boat from St Martin, and an eSIM Anguilla plan takes over only when you step off at Blowing Point, because it uses FLOW’s 4G/LTE network here and nowhere else.
That crossing matters. Sint Maarten and French St Martin are separate territories, so the plan won’t connect at Princess Juliana airport, in Marigot or on the boat over. Sort out that leg first; our Global eSIM may cover it, so check its country list. Around Blowing Point and Rendezvous Bay, St Martin is close enough that your phone might grab a network from across the channel. If data stops there, choose FLOW manually in the eSIM’s network settings.
On land, Anguilla is low and flat, and FLOW covers it well: The Valley, Sandy Ground, the hotels along Meads Bay and the beach bars at Shoal Bay East. Out on a boat to Prickly Pear Cays or Sandy Island, signal is weak or gone. For a day of snorkelling, that’s no great loss.
A week of maps, messages and beach photos usually fits in 3 GB. You won’t have an Anguilla number with a data-only plan, so calls go over WhatsApp or FaceTime and your home SIM keeps getting texts.

Anguilla Travel and Connectivity Guide
Easy coverage on a flat island, none once the boat leaves
Coverage areas
Anguilla is a long, narrow strip of limestone with no real hills, which makes FLOW’s job easy. You’ll have usable 4G/LTE in The Valley and at the airport, at Blowing Point, in Sandy Ground and around Road Bay, at the West End resorts on Meads Bay, Shoal Bay West and Rendezvous Bay, and up at Shoal Bay East and Island Harbour on the north-east coast. Where you lose it is offshore. Prickly Pear Cays, Sandy Island and Scrub Island can have weak signal or none, and so can the open water on the way out.
Network
Runs on FLOW, the Cable & Wireless network on Anguilla, over fast 4G/LTE. This eSIM won’t use any other. We don’t cap speeds; they depend on signal, location and your phone. St Martin is only a few miles south, so on the south shore your phone may show a St Martin network name on the eSIM line. This plan can’t use it. Switch off automatic network selection and pick FLOW.
Data usage tips
• 1–3 GB: a day trip over from St Martin or a long weekend. Data on Anguilla is dearer than on a European plan, so a short visit needs only the small sizes
• 5–10 GB: a week or two at a villa, with video calls and plenty of beach photos
• 20 GB: a month-long stay, or remote work with a laptop on hotspot
Tourist highlights
Shoal Bay East, the long white beach on the north coast, regularly turns up in lists of the Caribbean’s best. In the West End, Meads Bay and Rendezvous Bay look across to St Martin’s hills. Sandy Ground has the beach bars on Road Bay. Take a boat out to Prickly Pear Cays or tiny Sandy Island for snorkelling and a grilled lunch. Little Bay takes more effort, with a rope down the cliff or a boat as the only ways in. Wallblake House in The Valley is an 18th-century plantation house, and Island Harbour on the east end is where the fishing boats come in.
Apps that help
Anguilla has no regular public bus service, so you’ll get around by taxi or hire car. Taxis aren’t metered; ask the fare before you set off. Car rental firms issue the temporary Anguilla driving permit, and traffic keeps left. Google Maps finds the main roads but can be vague about villa driveways, so ask your host to drop a pin on WhatsApp. That’s also how many beach bars and boat skippers take bookings. US dollars are used almost everywhere, alongside the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
eSIM Anguilla and the St Martin crossing
Install the eSIM at home and leave it on as a second line. If you fly into Princess Juliana, you’ll be in Sint Maarten first, where this plan doesn’t work, so use your home SIM’s roaming or another plan for the transfer to the boat. At Blowing Point, swap roles. The Esimy eSIM gets Data Roaming and mobile data, and your home SIM has roaming turned off. On the way back, reverse it. For many UK and EU tariffs both islands count as expensive roaming zones, so check yours before you leave.
Why travelers choose Esimy Anguilla
- FLOW 4G/LTE from the ferry terminal and the airport to the far east end
- No ID or shop visit; the QR code comes straight to your inbox
- Install it in St Martin; the days only start once it connects in Anguilla
- Tethering allowed, useful when the villa Wi-Fi is slow
- More data can be added to this eSIM later
Best time to visit
- December to April: dry, sunny and the peak season, when villas book up early
- Late July to early August: the Summer Festival, with boat races as the main event
- June to November: hurricane season; some hotels and restaurants close for part of September and October

eSIM FAQs
Common questions about using eSIM in Anguilla
Is an eSIM Anguilla plan better than a local SIM card?
For a holiday it’s usually simpler. Buying an Anguilla SIM card involves finding a phone shop in The Valley, probably showing ID, and a SIM swap on your first day. With the eSIM, data is ready when you step off the ferry. For a stay of several months, or if you need a local number, go local.
Which phones support it?
Most recent iPhones, plus many Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models, as long as the phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable. Our list of supported devices has the specifics.
Can I use it as a hotspot?
Tethering is permitted. It helps at a villa where the Wi-Fi struggles, but a laptop can get through a gigabyte in an evening of streaming.
Can I top up my Anguilla eSIM?
Yes, as often as you need. Extra data bought in the Esimy app or dashboard goes onto this same eSIM, so there’s no new QR code.
How do I install and activate the eSIM?
- Buy on esimy.net. Apple Pay, Google Pay and cards are accepted, and there’s no ID check.
- Open the emailed QR code on another screen and scan it over Wi-Fi, at home or at your hotel in St Martin.
- Once in Anguilla, Data Roaming goes on for the eSIM, and it becomes your data line. The APN is automatic, and the days begin at that first connection.
How much data do I need? Is unlimited available?
There isn’t an unlimited option; plans stop at 20 GB for 30 days. A day trip from St Martin needs only 1 GB, and most week-long villa stays get by on 3 to 5 GB. Choose 10 or 20 GB for a long stay or if you’ll work from a laptop.
Is there signal on boat trips and at the far ends of the island?
On the main island, mostly yes, including Island Harbour at the east end and the West End beaches. Offshore, less so. Prickly Pear Cays, Sandy Island and Scrub Island can have weak signal or none, so save a map and any booking details before you board.
Does it work at Clayton J. Lloyd airport and the Blowing Point ferry terminal?
Both have FLOW coverage. Arriving on a regional flight, enable roaming on the eSIM once you land at Clayton J. Lloyd International, just outside The Valley. Coming by ferry, do it as you walk through the terminal at Blowing Point.
Which network will my phone connect to?
FLOW, on 4G/LTE, and only FLOW. If the eSIM line shows a St Martin network instead, usually on the south coast, set network selection to manual and choose FLOW.
Can I get an Anguilla phone number with it?
There’s no number included. It’s a data-only eSIM, so regular calls and SMS won’t work, though calls over WhatsApp and FaceTime work normally. Plenty of villa managers and boat skippers on Anguilla work over WhatsApp anyway, and your home SIM still receives texts.
Will my eSIM Anguilla plan work in St Martin or Sint Maarten?
Neither. Both halves of St Martin are separate territories, so the plan won’t connect in Philipsburg, Marigot or Simpson Bay, or at Princess Juliana airport. Have another plan ready for that part of the trip. Our Global eSIM might be an option, but look for St Martin on its country list before you buy.
What is the best eSIM for Anguilla?
A plan on Anguilla’s own network, sized to your stay, plus separate cover for St Martin if you’re arriving through Princess Juliana. Esimy’s plan runs on FLOW 4G/LTE, in sizes from 1 GB (valid 7 days) up to 20 GB for 30. It’s data only and works in Anguilla alone.
