Before you buy your Saint Vincent and the Grenadines eSIM
Is my phone compatible?
Quick check: dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked.
How much data do I need?
A rough estimate based on typical use. Video and hotspot use the most data.
Island-hopping with an eSIM Saint Vincent and the Grenadines plan
One eSIM Saint Vincent and the Grenadines plan covers the main island and most of the inhabited Grenadines on FLOW’s 4G/LTE network, starting the moment you land at Argyle.
St Vincent itself is steep and volcanic. Kingstown and the coast roads have a reliable signal. It thins as you head north towards La Soufrière, and on the volcano trail you’ll be offline for long stretches.
Most visitors come for the water. Bequia is an hour by ferry from Kingstown, and Port Elizabeth has good coverage. Further south, Canouan, Mustique and Union Island each have signal around their settlements. The Tobago Cays are different: a marine park of tiny uninhabited islands where you shouldn’t expect a reliable connection. Under sail between islands the signal comes and goes, so charter crews tend to catch up on messages and weather while anchored near a village.
This St Vincent eSIM works in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines only. Carriacou, a short hop south of Union Island, belongs to Grenada, and Barbados, where many flights connect, has its own Barbados eSIM. You’ll get data and nothing else, so no Vincentian number, calls or SMS. Prices per gigabyte are higher than in Europe, which makes a small plan the usual choice for a week.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Travel and Connectivity Guide
One volcanic main island and a chain of small, sail-in ones
eSIM Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, island by island
• St Vincent: Kingstown, the leeward coast towards Layou and the windward side around Argyle International have FLOW 4G/LTE. Heading north up either coast, it gets quieter past Georgetown or Chateaubelair, and the slopes of La Soufrière are unreliable.
• Bequia: good around Port Elizabeth and Admiralty Bay, with Lower Bay and Princess Margaret Beach mostly covered.
• Mustique and Canouan: signal around the settlements and resorts; villas tend to lean on their own Wi-Fi.
• Union Island: Clifton is covered, including the harbour where charter boats clear in and out.
• Tobago Cays: a protected marine park of uninhabited cays and reef. One bar is the best you’ll see, and often there’s nothing.
Network
Connects to FLOW, operated by Cable & Wireless in St Vincent and the Grenadines, on fast 4G/LTE. No other network is used. Esimy doesn’t throttle, so real speed comes from the signal and the handset. Down the Grenadines, that signal comes from masts on the inhabited islands. Between them, or at anchor off an empty cay, it weakens and then drops, and out on open water you should plan on having nothing.
Data usage tips
Data is dearer in the Caribbean than in Europe, so don’t overbuy for a short trip.
• 1–3 GB: a cruise call in Kingstown, or a week on a charter yacht, where you’ll be out of range a fair bit anyway
• 5–10 GB: one or two weeks between St Vincent and Bequia, with maps, WhatsApp and calls home in the evenings
• 20 GB: a month or more, or a long villa stay with the hotspot running your laptop
Tourist highlights
Kingstown’s Botanic Gardens are among the oldest in the Americas, and one breadfruit tree there descends from the plants Captain Bligh brought in 1793. La Soufrière, which last erupted in 2021, is a proper climb from the windward trailhead near Rabacca. Over on the leeward coast are Dark View Falls and Wallilabou Bay, where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. Then come the islands. Bequia has Port Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Beach, Mustique has sundowners at Basil’s Bar, and Mayreau has Salt Whistle Bay. Off Baradal in the Tobago Cays, you can snorkel with turtles.
Apps that help
Google Maps covers St Vincent’s roads well enough, but they’re narrow and steep and you drive on the left, so save the map offline before heading north. Minibuses leave from the Kingstown terminal and run along both coasts, usually with the music turned up. Fix taxi prices before you get in, as there are no meters. Ferries to Bequia leave Kingstown several times a day and take about an hour, and it’s best to check the day’s sailings locally rather than trust an old timetable. Charter skippers, water taxis and the vendors who come alongside in the anchorages mostly work by WhatsApp or VHF. You’ll pay in Eastern Caribbean dollars, though US cash is widely taken.
Roaming tips
Roam-like-at-home deals don’t stretch this far, so a UK or EU tariff will charge roaming here, and US carriers usually bill by the day. Install the Esimy eSIM at home. On arrival, switch Data Roaming on for the eSIM (not for your home SIM) and pick the eSIM for mobile data. Many flights to Argyle connect in Barbados; our Barbados eSIM is the separate plan for that stop. Sailing south from Union Island to Carriacou means entering Grenada, which this plan doesn’t cover.

eSIM FAQs
Common questions about using eSIM in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Should I buy a St Vincent SIM card in Kingstown instead?
If you’re staying for months, perhaps. A local prepaid SIM card gives you a Vincentian number, but you’ll need to visit a shop, usually with ID, and swap your own SIM out. For a holiday or a charter, the eSIM is ready before you fly.
Which phones work?
Any unlocked, eSIM-capable phone. If yours came from a carrier on contract, make sure it’s unlocked, then find it on our list of supported devices.
Can I run a hotspot for the boat?
Tethering is allowed. One phone can keep a chart tablet or a laptop online, provided you’re within reach of a mast.
Can I add more data mid-trip?
Whenever you like. Buy more in the app or the dashboard and it’s added to the eSIM you’re using, even from a boat, as long as you have signal or Wi-Fi at that moment.
How do I set it up?
- Before you fly: buy online (no ID needed), get the QR code by email and scan it on Wi-Fi.
- After landing: enable Data Roaming on the eSIM and set it as the line for mobile data.
The APN is automatic, and the validity clock starts at that first connection.
How much data does a sailing week need, and is unlimited available?
Less than you’d think, because you’ll spend a good part of the week out of range. 1 to 3 GB usually covers a charter; take 5 GB if you’re mostly ashore on St Vincent or Bequia. We don’t sell unlimited here; the biggest plan is 20 GB over 30 days.
Is there signal on the La Soufrière hike and in the north of St Vincent?
Patchy at best. The windward trail near Rabacca starts with some coverage, but once you’re in the forest and up towards the crater rim, count on long stretches without it. North of Georgetown and Chateaubelair the villages are small and the signal is thinner. Carry an offline map, and let your guide or guesthouse know your route.
Will my eSIM work at Argyle International Airport?
If it’s installed before you travel, it will. Argyle is on the windward coast, a short drive from Kingstown. Once you’re down, enable Data Roaming on the eSIM and FLOW usually connects within a couple of minutes.
What network does it connect to?
FLOW, Cable & Wireless’s network in St Vincent and the Grenadines, on 4G/LTE. It uses no other network.
Does the eSIM St Vincent plan come with a local number?
There’s no Vincentian number, because the plan is data only, and standard calls and texts won’t work on it. Call over WhatsApp or FaceTime, and leave your home SIM on in dual-SIM mode for bank codes.
Does the eSIM Saint Vincent and the Grenadines plan work on Bequia, Mustique and in the Tobago Cays?
- Bequia: yes, with good coverage around Port Elizabeth and Admiralty Bay.
- Mustique, Canouan and Union Island: covered around the settlements and resorts, thinner on the far beaches.
- Tobago Cays: no reliable signal. Download what you need before you sail in.
What is the best eSIM for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines?
For a holiday split between St Vincent and the smaller islands, a data-only plan does the job, since what you’ll mostly use is maps, messages and the weather forecast. Ours connects to FLOW’s 4G/LTE network. Plans start at 1 GB for 7 days and go up to 20 GB for 30 days.
